When you are addressing a student is important what your mouth saying but it also matters what your body language is saying.
If you point at a student then they will automatically feel accused whereas if you have your palm facing up it makes them feel more like they have a choice in the matter.
Try using last week’s tip WITH this week’s tip and see what happens!
Example: Walk close to your pencil tapping student with your palm facing up and say “we need you to stop tapping please!” I guarantee their response will be different than it normally would be.
When I made this one simple change the attitude that I received from a few students dramatically decreased!
